Privacy policy

This policy covers the Completo mobile app. The Completo storefront, which sells spreadsheet templates, has its own policy.

Last updated 11 August 2026

The short version

Completo is a manual budgeting app. By default, everything you enter stays in a database on your own phone and is never transmitted anywhere.

The app has no connection to your bank and never asks for banking credentials. You only share data with us if you choose to create an account for cloud sync, or choose to turn on product analytics — both are off unless you act.

Data stored on your device

The following is created by you and held locally on your phone. Without an account, it is not sent to us or to anyone else:

  • Transactions: amounts, dates, categories, payees, notes and payment methods
  • Accounts and balances you enter, including whether an account is an asset or a liability
  • Budgets, bills, recurring rules and net-worth snapshots
  • Preferences such as currency, theme, and which day your week starts on
  • App-lock settings. Biometric data itself never reaches the app — the operating system verifies your fingerprint or face and only reports success or failure

Data we process if you create an account

Cloud sync is optional and exists so a second device, or a replacement phone, can pick up where you left off. If you sign in, the financial records listed above are transmitted to and stored on our hosting provider so they can be delivered back to your other devices.

We also process the account details needed to authenticate you:

  • Your email address
  • An account identifier, and authentication tokens issued at sign-in
  • If you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns for that purpose
  • Timestamps recording when records were created or changed, which is what makes sync work

Analytics

Product analytics are opt-in and default to off. If you never turn them on, no analytics events are collected at all.

If you do turn them on, we record which steps of onboarding are completed and whether key actions such as saving a first transaction or viewing the upgrade screen occur. This tells us where the app is confusing. It never includes transaction amounts, payees, balances, account names or note contents.

Analytics are processed by PostHog in the European Union. You can turn them off again at any time in the app's settings.

Payments

Completo Pro is not for sale yet. When it launches, it will be sold through Google Play, and payment will be handled entirely by Google and by our subscription management provider — we will never see or store your card number or billing address.

We receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active, linked to your account identifier, so the app knows which features to unlock.

What we never do

Some things are worth stating as absolutes rather than leaving to inference:

  • We do not sell your personal data, and we never will
  • We do not share your financial records with advertisers or data brokers
  • We do not connect to your bank or request banking credentials
  • We do not use your financial data to train machine-learning models
  • We do not show third-party advertising in the app

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of providers, each for a single, stated purpose:

  • Supabase — database and authentication hosting for accounts and cloud sync
  • PostHog (EU region) — product analytics, only if you have opted in
  • Google Play — app distribution, and payment processing for subscriptions

How long we keep it

Data on your device stays until you delete it, or until you uninstall the app.

If you have an account, synced records are kept while that account exists so they can be delivered to your devices. When you delete your account, the server-side copy is deleted.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account from inside the app, under Settings. This is a button, not a support request. Deleting removes your account and the financial records stored on our servers.

Signing out, separately, clears the synced data from that device without deleting anything on the server.

Uninstalling the app removes everything held locally on that phone. If you never created an account, uninstalling deletes every copy of your data that exists.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR — you have rights to access, correct, export, delete and restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it.

The app is built so that most of these need no request at all: you can read and edit every record directly, export your transactions to CSV on any plan, and delete your account yourself. If you want to exercise a right that the app does not cover, contact us and we will respond.

Children

Completo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Analytics, where enabled, are processed in the European Union. Where data is transferred outside your country, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.

Contact

For any question about this policy or your data, contact us through the contact page on this site. We aim to respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
